SAFEGUARDING BASIC AWARENESS (C0)
Suitable for all individuals within our Church communities who need to have a basic awareness of safeguarding of children, young people and vulnerable adults.
AIMS AND OBJECTIVES:
- Able to describe the scope of safeguarding children and adults in the church context
- Able to recognise safeguarding concerns
- Aware of how to respond well to safeguarding information, including who to inform
- Aware of when to make a record, what to include and the boundaries of confidentiality.
SAFEGUARDING FOUNDATIONS (C1)
Suitable for all individuals within our Church communities who hold positions of responsibility for the safeguarding of children, young people and vulnerable adults.
AIMS AND OBJECTIVES:
- Aware of legislation, policy and practice guidance for Safeguarding
- Able to describe your own role and responsibilities
- Aware of how to respond to safeguarding information, who to inform, how to refer and the boundaries of confidentiality
- Able to work safely in a role
- Able to explain why safeguarding matters.
Courses that are booked through the Diocesan website are:
SAFEGUARDING LEADERSHIP (C2)
The Safeguarding Foundation Module C2 training is specifically aimed at Leaders of children’s and adult activities, Churchwardens, PCC Safeguarding leads, Director of Music, Bell Tower Captains, Organist, Choir leader, home visitors and safeguarding coordinators. Participants benefit if they complete the e-learning module C1 before attending C2.
SAFEGUARDING TRAINING (C3)
This is the new, national safeguarding requirement for clergy. It is for Readers, Licenced Lay Ministers and those who hold the Bishop's Permission to Officiate. Clergy taking up new posts in the Diocese receive an invitation to a relevant session on arrival.
The module is compliant with the National Church Safeguarding framework. On completion of this module, people are required to undertake a refresher within 3 years.
