Cloned Facebook - Friend Requests: Canon Ailsa (Newby) of Ripon Cathedral has had her Facebook account cloned and the scammer is sending out Friend Requests to people in this parish. Please do NOT accept these until the problem has been resolved.
Kent resident targeted by 'lifeline' scam, after being cold called by someone claiming to be from their Doctors Surgery. The fraudster claimed they could fit a free lifeline device in the residents home & the fraudster wanted to visit the resident to get paperwork signed. This is a SCAM! The residents Doctors Surgery did not call the resident regarding this matter. Be wary of cold callers! Check what you are being told and speak to your Surgery to confirm. For advice and to report, call Citizens Advice Consumer Service on 0808 223 1133. Please warn friends and family.
Scam Alert: Kent Police have received several reports of courier fraudsters active in Birchington. We are warning all residents to watch out for this scam. Courier Fraud is when you are targeted by criminals and tricked into handing over cash, bank card or other valuables. They pose as Police Officers or bank staff, contacting you to withdraw money and give it to a courier who will come to your home. The criminals may also convince you to hand over your bank card and PIN to the courier or ask you to buy high-value items. Remember: The Police or bank will never ask for your PIN and will never send a courier to collect your cash, card or other items. They will also never cold call you, asking you to take part in an investigation which involves you taking money from your bank. If you are targeted by Courier Fraud report to Action Fraud or call 0300 123 2040. Let your bank know if you have given the criminals any bank details or given them your bank card. For advice, contact Citizens Advice consumer helpline 0808 223 1133. Please warn friends and family.

Beware of a guy named Tom Hopkins. He offers DIY jobs, demands money up front with menaces. He is on bail for fraud. He also “sells” things and scams people.
